Norway & Norway Consumer Goods Exhibition, Gurney Plaza

From 1-4 November 2012, the Norwegian Embassy is having a photo exhibition as well as exhibitions by some of the most recognized brands of Norway at Gurney Plaza. This event was launched and officiated by the Chief Minister of Penang, YAB Tuan Lim Guan Eng and the Ambassador of Norway to Malaysia, H.E. Han Ola Urstad.
Its not everyday we get an opportunity to learn more about another country and this is also the first time that the Royal Norwegian Embassy has an exhibition out of Kuala Lumpur. There is a very nice photo exhibition with some really superb photos showcasing what Norway has to offer. Besides the photo exhibition, 4 companies are showcasing their products here as well.
I'm sure many have heard of Jotun which is one of the top manufacturers of paint products. Then there is Jordan, another leader in oral care, and another 2 companies which I was just introduced to which is Tine Norway and Trapia Sdn Bhd. Tine Norway is showcasing an assortment of Norwegian cheese, which is really different than the ones available locally (its currently not imported into Malaysia currently). Trapia Sdn Bhd on the other hand is a local company which uses Norwegian technology to produce eco friendly fish farming at Lake Temenggor where they are focusing on Tilapia fish production. Do read on and see the many pictures, and since its only available for this coming weekend, do not miss the chance to pay this exhibition a visit.
Cheese sampling.....
Photo exhibition

I guess since they brought all these cheese already, they have to let everyone try to finish it. Yum Yum
Make sure to try the brown one
This is the most popular one, Jarlsberg
Thats how you slice the cheese
 So much pieces of cheese
 The Jotun exhibit
For the opening, they had some finger food. Funny thing was these were not Norwegian food though, which I was so hoping it was

And this is the showcase from Jordan. Do remember to like their exhibit via Facebook and they will give you a free toothbrush of your choice
 They showcased a designer collection

And I had my picture taken with their colorful backdrop
 Even have toothbrush for kids

Trapia had samplings of their tilapia fish being prepared by professional chefs from Abbey Road Restaurant (Heheh, was told they are located in Butterworth)

Served in spoons on a bed of vegetables, each bite size portion of tilapia is just bursting with flavor.

My only comment was that they should have brought more spoons as they quickly ran out and had to wash the spoons before they are able to make more. They will also have cooking demonstrations too

 The guests of honour
 The Ambassador of Norway
 And his assistances

Its great that they even gave a donation to the Children's Protection Society from the participating companies. Kudos to you all!

Even the CM got a souvenir
 One more picture of him

  2. Hi Modern Farming. Totally agree with you. Actually tilapia eaten fresh is a delicious fish, just that in Penang its not that popular compared to Ipoh or KL. Its great steamed or fried! Stay tune for another of my food posting of a "Ikan Bakar" using tilapia!
