Claypot Bak Kut Teh at Teluk Bayan Foodcourt Penang

Was pleasantly surprise to get to know that there is now another new Bak Kut Teh flavor or player at Penang now. With so many types of Bak Kut Teh but none that matches any of the famous ones, its nice to be able to try one that boast a rich history. Well, the story about this owner is that he grew up helping his mom selling Bak Kut Teh in Sitiawan and the stall in Sitiawan has now been operating for like 30 years now. No he has not worked 30 years but has been chopping and dicing up meat portions since the time that he was tall enough to hold the cleaver steady. So here we have now in Penang, a Bak Kut Teh that brings to you the flavors of this meat dish all the way from Sitiawan! Read on

Just look at the nice juicy pieces of meat!
How the stall looks like. As you can see, they haven't even got the signboard done

 All the brand new claypots
Hmm, Mui Choy is one of their specialties
My dinner with wife and daughter. The soup of the Bak Kut Teh here definitely has a more punchy herbal flavor which is not overly strong. This is important to control as else the herbal taste would rob the meat of its flavor.

Besides Bak Kut Teh, they also serve a very good vinegar pork knuckle! Honestly I'm not a fan of this dish but I was delighted by the flavor of the one here as the vinegar is not over powering or too sourish. This one will definitely be considered for future visit and well worth the try!
The Mui Choy has little bits of fried pork bits in it which gives it the added flavor. Its obviously slightly salty thus it goes great with the rice!
 Another view

All the yummy bits. You can choose the part you like or let them mix the different meats around. Notice the amount of intestines? Loved this one.
Make sure to ask what meat for the day is good as it really depends on the daily cut of meat available sometimes
And finally some photos of the stall and the shop itself

This is the owner, Jackson and he is really one jolly chap! Keep it up ya!
